Mary was the oldest of five children, and married Merlyn Jay Burraston on October 10, 1957 in the Manti LDS temple. Mary and Merlyn made their home in West Valley City, where they worked and raised their five children.

Mary was a loving, compassionate and service oriented woman, and served those around her unceasingly. She was a devoted member of the LDS church where she served those in her ward and community. Mary worked for First Security Bank of Nephi, as well as at Granger Elementary as an aide.

Mary's biggest joy in life was making her children, grandchildren and those around her happy. Mary loved reading, sewing, the outdoors, cheering for the Jazz, and enjoying a diet Dr. Pepper.
