Charlotte B. Naranjo Turner
June 14, 1939 ~ September 24, 2016

Charlotte B. Naranjo Turner, 77, of West Valley City, UT passed away September 24, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. She was born June 14, 1939, in Fruita, Colorado, the daughter of the late Joe and Lucy Naranjo. She was the third of four siblings, Katherine Naranjo Sisneros, Jeanette Naranjo Jones and preceded in death by Severiano Naranjo.
She graduated from Carbon High School 1957, Weber State University 1959 - R.N., University Of Utah 1961 - B.S. of Nursing. On August 9, 1963, she married Ronald E. Turner, who survives her.
Charlotte was awarded a University Scholarship from the Utah Chapter of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). Upon graduation, at the age of 21, she was made the Head Nurse of Neurosurgery at LDS Hospital. After marriage, she worked at the Army Madigan General Hospital during Ron's service in the Army. Later she returned and retired as the Head Nurse of Orthopedics at the LDS Hospital.
After becoming an Orthopedic Nurse, she joined the National Assoc. of Orthopedic Nurses (NAON). She held several offices until she retired, including President. Upon Ron's graduation from the U of U College of Pharmacy, she joined and simultaneously participated in the Pharmacy Auxiliary Wives Assoc., again holding many offices, including President.
She was passionate, yet gentle in advocating that nurses were afforded the same rights as doctors and other professionals regarding their licenses. She played a key role in the development of an Impaired Nurses Board, and eventually sat on that board after retirement.
Charlotte was not only a compassionate and kind nurse; she was a loving and involved mother. She was the Catacism Attendance Secretary at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish, resulting in all of her four children receiving their Catholic sacraments. Both of her sons became Eagle Scouts, as she was a Scout Leader at the 13th ward. She was involved in every activity, sport or team that her children participated. This also spilled over to her grandchildren. No matter where her oldest grandchildren lived in the world, she was there to support their important milestones and activities. There are a lot of team moms, but not a lot of team "grandmothers" as she was so fondly called.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Raquel Turner Dimock (Timothy) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Craig Turner (Jaime) of Grantsville, Utah; Clint Turner of Paris, France; Rhonda Turner Bukovinsky (Rich) of Park City, Utah; six grandchildren, Remington (25) and Tessa (22) Dimock of South Jordan, Utah, Cole (18), Jaden (16) and Cierra (13) Turner of Grantsville, Utah, Rylee (15) Bukovinsky of Park City, Utah; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
